Having had a privileged New York City childhood, I attended Bernstein’s Children’s Concerts and loved him from afar. My dad knows Previn, having recorded with him (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/cg\/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE57C1BD94BAA7420C0972956C8947FE71AD64FF3881B6E495AD1A9127C9D2E66F75FD895CCB1E577B266ADFF2EA1160ED2C0ED54F6DE672D5DF0&sql=10:p1r67ub070jg\"target=\"_blank\">A Different Kind of Blues<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/cg\/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE57C1BD94BAA7420C0972956C8947FE71AD64FF3881B6E495AD1A9127C9D2E66F75FD895CCB1E577B266ADFF2EA1160ED2C0ED54F6DE672D5DF0&sql=10:3hnsa93gi23f\"target=\"_blank\">It’s a Breeze<\/a>), but I have never met Previn nor von Karajan, let alone seen either perform in person.
